Careers in Factual TV
Throughout your two years at Long Road, you will need to complete the six tasks from our careers blog "Preparing for a Career in the Media Industry". Throughout the first year of your course, we will be encouraging you to explore job roles in different sectors, these will help you complete TASK 1: RESEARCH on our careers blog.
Careers in Factual TV:
Factual TV has lots of different jobs in front and behind the camera as well as careers in development, pre-production, post-production, sales, marketing, and publicity. From writing, journalism, directing, camera and sound, lighting, art direction, producing, editing, graphics, presenting, and many many more.
TASK:
1) Set up a new blog called 'YourNameCareers'.
2) Link your new 'Careers blog' as a page on your own 'media hub blog'. LAYOUT > PAGES GADGET > ADD EXTERNAL LINK
3) Creat a new page on your careers blog called 'RESEARCH'
4) Use the 'Useful Careers Sites' down the side of the careers website to research 3 different jobs in factual television, try to track the job to highlight potential career progression. Start with sites like BAFTA guru website and Screen Skills. Link any useful videos and other information to your own careers research page. You should try to find out:
- Qualifications or experience needed
- Skills needed
- Progression route ( what job it can lead to)
